KeşfetGeopark
Geological heritage in the heart of Anatolia
The unique landscape of Karapınar—shaped over millions of years by volcanic eruptions, water and wind—has turned Konya into an open-air museum of geological heritage. The Konya Karapınar Geopark Project is a holistic vision to protect, promote and pass this legacy to future generations.

Our Vision and UNESCO Goal
Karapınar is a geography that most clearly reveals past and present climatic and geomorphological changes—like a living chronicle of world history. A management area meeting UNESCO standards has been established through the Local Action Plan.
With our letter of intent submitted to the UNESCO Turkish National Commission, our goal is to make Konya Karapınar Geopark an official UNESCO Global Geopark.
